Ten principles of warehouse management
In modern warehouse management, following scientific principles can not only improve efficiency, but also ensure the safety and accuracy of materials. Here are the top 10 principles of warehouse management.
1. First-in, first-out principle (FIFO)
Ensure that the goods that are put in the warehouse first are out of the warehouse, especially for perishable or shelf-life items, to prevent inventory from expiring and deteriorating, and to improve inventory turnover.
2. The principle of locking the location
The material is fixed in the designated location, and the physical location must be consistent with the record in the ERP system. The location code is like a home address, ensuring that the relevant item can be found quickly.
3. The principle of special materials
All kinds of materials correspond to specific orders and should not be misappropriated at will to ensure the accuracy of material use and the integrity of the order.
4. ABC management principles for inventory
The quantity of Class A materials accounts for 10-15%, and the value of the goods accounts for 60-70%
The quantity of Class B materials accounts for 20-35%, and the value of goods accounts for 15-20%
The quantity of Class C materials accounts for 50-70%, and the value of the goods accounts for 5-10%
Strictly control Class A and B key materials to ensure the management and use of important materials.
5. The principle of "six non-entry".
(1) If there is a delivery note but no physical object, it will not be put into storage
(2) If there is a physical object but there is no original delivery note or invoice, it will not be put into storage
(3) If the incoming material does not match the quantity, specification and model of the delivery note, it will not be put into storage
(4) If the quality inspection (IQC) is not passed and the leader signs and agrees to use, it will not be put into storage
(5) Those who have not gone through the warehousing procedures will not be put into storage
(6) If the delivery note or invoice is not the original, it will not be put into storage
6. The principle of "five non-hair".
(1) If there is no bill of lading or the bill of lading is invalid, the material will not be issued
(2) If the procedures do not meet the requirements, the materials will not be issued
(3) Unqualified materials will not be issued without the approval of the leader
(4) Materials with incorrect specifications and incomplete accessories will not be issued
(5) Materials that have not gone through the warehousing procedures will not be issued
7. The principle of one-time delivery
Material delivery must be accurate, timely, and one-time completion. The materials used in the production line must be brought back to the location of the production line and must not be stacked in the warehouse to avoid confusion and errors.
8. Access Control Principle
(1) Except for material management personnel and handling personnel, other personnel are not allowed to enter the warehouse without approval
(2) It is strictly forbidden for anyone to carry materials in and out of the warehouse without permission
(3) Guests can enter the warehouse under the escort of personnel at or above the competent level
9. The principle of "every day is over, every day is clear".
(1) At the end of each day's work, the warehouse keeper needs to self-confirm and check the accounts of the day to ensure the balance of the accounts, find out the shortcomings, and make timely improvements
(2) Inspect the material storage location 1-2 times a day to ensure that the quality, safety and 6S status of the materials in the warehouse meet the standards, and return the returned materials
(3) The documents are transmitted to the recorder on the same day, and the recorder enters the system on the same day
10. The principle of daily exchange
For the specified materials, the daily update is strictly implemented to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of inventory management.
